Health Day at Arte no Dique Institute

  • by

About 300 people from Rádio Clube, in the Northwest Zone of Santos, participated in Health Day this Saturday (30), at Instituto Arte no Dique. The community had easy access to care and prevention services, promoted by the Health Department, Rotary Club, with the help of Rotaract, Interact and Rotary Kids.

The action included 40 health professionals, including City Hall employees, as well as volunteer dentists and doctors in the general clinic, urology, cardiology, ophthalmology and vascular areas.

All underwent blood pressure measurement and blood glucose measurement, vision test, tuberculosis, vascular evaluation and, also, vaccination against measles. When necessary, they were referred to public health services and underwent imaging tests at the Santos Radiologic Clinic, which supports the initiative.

The children were able to watch the oral hygiene class with video and received a brushing kit.

Lindalva dos Santos Silva, 82, one of the oldest residents of the neighborhood, really enjoyed the event. “It's easier when you're close to us. I'm going to do everything I'm entitled to."

Jakson Ferreira de Souza, 57, said his blood pressure was a little higher than usual. "The doctor asked me to cut down on salt and exercise."

The president of the Rotary Club of Santos, Edgard Lopes Hernandes, informed that this is the first action in the place. “There was already this health care in our club, but restricted to cardiology. Now we expand to other areas”.

The president of Instituto Arte no Dique, José Virgílio Leal de Figueiredo, celebrated the new partnership with Rotary and thanked the one that already exists with the City Hall. “It is of vital importance to the population, with first-line professionals and fast and safe service.”
